Potential Domestic Terrorist In America
Things to look for :
•Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
•Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
•Survivalist literature (fictional books such as "Patriots" and "One Second After" are mentioned by name)
•Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
•Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
•Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
•Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government
•Homeschooling
•Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
•Belief in a New World Order conspiracy
Eric Holder has been encouraging law enforcement agencies to work with business owners to alert police when customers appear to be stockpiling items. An example was given that a federal agent was monitoring customers at a well known hunting and fishing retail outlet and noting who was purchasing certain items.
Various common materials which may be associated with homemade explosives are listed, such as lengths of pipe, gunpowder, matches, flammable liquids and fireworks. Officers are told when these items are found, they can be listed as “bomb making materials”. Items that are cleverly disguised as legitimate, such as gasoline stored near a lawn mower, pipes stored in a shop building or gunpowder stored with reloading materials.
Certain ideologies by linking an erroneous characteristic to a particular group. Here are some examples:
•These groups hold the anniversaries of certain dates as significant such a Ruby Ridge, Waco and Hitler’s birthday
•They oppose abortion, support gun rights and are affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan
•They are fearful of big government, espouse support for the Constitution and want to kill police officers
•These groups collect firearms, survivalist books and explosives
•These extremists read books such as Patriots, One Second After and The Anarchist Cookbook
•They are religious zealots, reading the book of Revelation, speak of the second coming of Christ and plan mass murders to summon the end of the world
•These people grow their own food, raise livestock and plot attacks on commercial food production facilities..
People who have strong views of the U.S. Constitution. These people actually believe the Second Amendment gives them the personal right to own a gun. Be cautious of anyone who quotes the Constitution and even worse, actually possesses a copy of this radical document.

President Obama Ban Coal Mining , Save Forests !
Although many depend on it for their livelihood, it doesn't burn clean, and like oil workers, you risk your life doing it. Actually, probably more so. Obama is actually going to prioritize the environment over greed and convenience. It's about time!
To those of you who object to more expensive energy, understand that the US has artificially low energy prices already compared with the rest of the world. Your cheap energy comes at the expense of life, human and other. When we switch our nation's dependence from coal and oil to reusable energy, we will need to hire masses of people to make that happen. Where oil and coal jobs go, other jobs are created. The notion that switching to a green economy immediately leads to job loss is bogus.
The world's next superpower will be the nation that figures out renewable, safe energy. It will take a nation with an entrepreneurial spirit, a well educated workforce, manufacturing capability, lots of land to work with, and the technical capacity to prioritize it. Energy and products that come from fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal will soon be a thing of the past.

White Racist Idiots
Proud to be White
Michael Richards makes his point........................
Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point.
This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...
Someone finally said it. How many are actually paying attention to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc. And then there are just Americans.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you.. so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
You have the NAACP. You have BET. If we had WET (White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.
If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that??
A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships.. You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US ... Yet if there were 'White colleges', that would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud...... But you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists?? We have LOSTmost of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves!
BE PROUD TO BE WHITE!
It's not a crime YET... but getting very close

SpiritsoftheWolf
No one entering this world can ever escape sadness. Each in turn must bear burdens, though rich or poor, and in turn bid loved ones farewell as they set out upon life's ventures. Each one must suffer that sad farewell when loved one's embark on the last voyage, and each in turn must take that final journey. But for those who make this life a pledge to the human spirit, there comes the assurance of a victory that redeems life's pain.
Mother Nature says:
This is me. I live amoung you in the flesh. Last week I was told who I really am and I do weep for you humanity. I weep for what comes to you when you die. Listen and save your souls. You will go through a review of your life upon your death. From beginning to end you will live it in full color, taste and sound. But this time you will know what everyone around you seen and unseen are thinking about the situation in their minds, they also will know your thoughts. If you have pain in your heart from a fellow human you must take this moment and make it right. If your heart is convicted that you have made a grave error and you don’t know how to fix it then just blurt it out to your foe. You gain heaven by your good works alone and you have been lied to by organized religion since the beginning of human history on earth. I can tell you without hesitation that Jesus felt one go round with you was enough for him. He has no intention of coming here and the bible is full of lies about his role in revelation. I tell you the truth Humanity. This is how I looked overcome with emotion for you when I found out who I really am. I thought I was a simple mortal who gave birth to a wonderful child with a grand and important destiny. Little did I know until last week that I am Mother Nature in the flesh.
My emotions are the weather.
My body is the ground.
My joints are the fault lines.
My overall health is the health of the earth.
I will not be here for much longer. I feel it is my duty to warn you of what is to come. I was born in 1972 and I have had a very emotionally painful life. There is no global warming, only my emotional ride in this physical form. If I had known then who I was I would have contained myself. I am sorry for your losses. When I die in the Month of October 2009 I will have my own review to go through.
Please understand that I am warning you to stock up now. All of the crazy weather over the last 37 years is due to my living amoung you, and I have to tell you that humanity vexes me daily, so when I go through my review and deal with my emotional pain upfront and with the knowledge of everything I can tell you that there will be all the horrible weather of the last 37 years cast about the earth within a much shorter time frame. Prepare for the worst, everywhere.

Charcoal shouldn't impart any flavor onto the food you're cooking unless it's (1) shitty charcoal with uncharred wood in it, which effectively smokes your food, or (2) you're using Match Light or you started your charcoal with lighter fluid or a starter stick (don't do this, get a chimney starter.)
What charcoal *does* do is impart a fair amount of dry, radiant heat onto your food which puts a nice char on the outside of it. This is mostly what gives you that "charcoal flavor", plus beautifully crispy skin on chicken.
A propane grill with lava rock or ceramic briquettes on top of the burner, with every burner set high for several minutes to get the rocks/briquettes nicely glowing, can get pretty close. For a bit of smoky flavor, throw a few wood chips on top of the lava rocks or briquettes, but don't overdo it.
If you've got one of the latest trend of propane grills which don't have a lava rock grate, but instead have multiple burners with metal "shields" over them, you're pretty much screwed. Those grills cook by convection more than anything; I own one of these and I hate it.

Man of the People Muammar Gaddafi
Muammar Al Qadhafi is more than just the Leader of the Libyan people. More than the Leader of the struggling Arab Nation. More than the symbol of hope and freedom for the oppressed of Africa, Asia and Latin America. For he is above all the Leader of the World Revolution. A man of determination and courage who is carrying the torch of real liberty not just for his own people, but for the people of the entire world. These are not just mere words or idle praises because unlike many of this century's heads of state who have laid claim to the mantle of 'revolutionary leader', Muammar Al Qadhafi's ACTIONS and LIFE have earned him the title of Leader of the World Revolution. Many men have apportioned to themselves the titles of Leader and Revolutionary but few reflect the great responsibilities of such appellations in even the smallest aspects of their lives. Muammar Al Qadhafi is a truly unique man, a man of a different calibre, a man whose example and thoughts inspire the struggling oppressed masses and haunts the oppressors. This is why he is loved by the peoples of the world but feared by the ruling exploiting cliques who know that his words and actions expose them for what they are.
Born 1942 in a Bedouin family, Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi1 (also known simply as Colonel Gaddafi) has been the leader of Libya since a coup in 1969.
From 1972, when Gaddafi relinquished the title of prime minister, he has been accorded the honorifics "Guide of the First of September Great Revolution of the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya" or "Brotherly Leader and Guide of the Revolution" in government statements and the official press. With the death of Omar Bongo of Gabon on 8 June 2009, he became the fourth longest serving of all current national leaders. He is also the longest-serving ruler of Libya since Ali Pasha Al Karamanli, who ruled between 1754 and 1795.
Man of faith and tradition !

Queering Elementary Education is a groundbreaking book
Probably no other title in the pantheon of liberationist literature will evoke more controversy than Queering Elementary Education. If there was an unseemly uproar over Daddy's Roommate and Heather Has Two Mommies, just wait till the Religious Reich spies this!!
One of the many past activities that Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings has come under fire for is writing the forward to a book in 1999 that called for elementary school teachers to encourage children to explore their sexual identities and to incorporate homosexual themes and role models into their curriculum. The book was called Queering Elementary Education: Advancing the Dialogue about Sexualities and Schooling.
It's Elementary's producer, Debra Chasnof, exults: "What a relief to finally have such a thoughtful collection of essays and research to back up what we've found in schools across the nation…an examination of the ways children's lives are hurt by homophobia and an inspiring array of strategies educators can use to turn this problem around."
The revealing and heart wrenching personal experiences of gay and lesbian youths— who, because of homophobic social pressure now comprise at least one third of all youth suicides--are chronicled in Queering Elementary Education along with incisive commentaries by educators themselves. One of the book's two editors, James T. Sears, Ph.D., points out that it is "not about teaching sex. It's for teachers and parents who choose to model honesty, civility, authenticity, integrity, fairness and respect."

Using images from popular children’s media, we will transform these into a subversive coloring book, writing stories for the characters we always wanted to rebel against. Because so much of children’s media does not include Transgender, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Queer, and Feminist characters and ideas, we will deliberately work to contradict this. Don’t miss the chance to make friends, cut-n-paste with a real live glue stick, and change the direction of children’s media. No artistic experience necessary. Its editors, both educators, have provided what some see as a companion volume to the award-winning film, It's Elementary. They take it for granted that children in the earliest grades have already been introduced—through schoolyard and media—to the concept of same sex love and affection, that most remain confused about it and that it is best to begin demystification processes early in life rather than allowing mistaken perceptions to take root.

Coleman Collectors Forum cat fight
This started out as an aggravation and became more
Another collector and i disagree and have become dis-agreeable here in Bellingham, Washington on Craig's List.
several months ago, i noticed on CL that someone was advertising to buy lanterns every couple of weeks, i was trying to figure out who it might be . of course its a free country and it was not illegal so.......... there was never a name or a phone # to make contact so it was difficult.
eventually i was able to figure out it was a member and we made contact.
he wanted my address so he could just drop by but i suggested we meet and he suggested date and time, so we met.
chit chat whatever, then i suggested that his advertising might raise local prices and make wild finds difficult. he said oh no wouldn't happen.
during that meeting he described how he was advertising across the country and picking stuff off. he also said he had a program that alerted him to Coleman items around the country. that seemed clever ,but picking off the lantern across your street bugged me.
in the ads you had no way to identify or directly contact whoever it was, so you could respond and not get a response back. maybe i'm old fashioned, but that's not the way to do things.
anyway, i thought after our meeting face to face, maybe he would re-think ads as they didn't appear for awhile, but.........
so i put an ad on too. he had said he would call but made no contact.
I SEE NO REASON TO STAND BY AND ALLOW HIM TO USE CL AS HIS PRIVATE MEDIUM.
bang another ad in less than two weeks. so i put up another ad. now i get e-mails chastising me for my ads. as of today, he has pulled his ads, i will leave mine up so people can read mine in response to his.
i can give two direct quotes that i wrote down.
THEY ARE ALL TREASURES TO ME
MAYBE YOUR JUNK OR UNWANTED ITEM CAN BE A TREASURE TO ME
my ads offended him which you can read for yourself because i responded to his Mother Teresa appeal as the keeper of their Coleman heirlooms. smugly, he told me how he had gotten a few for himself and made a buck turning them over.he said it. why be offended?
he then tells me that by the no. of replies i got, that i should consider changing my approach. i told him i appreciated his concern for me. also assuming he is telling me round-about that he can monitor replies to my ads(can he?) i asked if he could monitor my phone calls also.
he then pulls his ads.
no ads was my aim from our first conversation, ads go up, i respond. simple as that.
now to each of you; how do you feel about ads? none? free for all? what's best and for who?
how about ads where you can't identify who is placing the ad and where they are located. in other words do you have a problem,as i do, with someone poaching your areas.again not illegal but not nice in my book.
if you want to fight this kind of prospecting, its up to you to protect your own areas.
i will bury these ads in the future without any sense of guilt.
there's the story where a guy says to another having a feud with a newspaper editor and this man tells him "DON'T PICK A FIGHT WITH ANYONE WHO BUYS INK BY THE BARREL"
another might be "don't un-necessarily aggravate an old guy who has cheated death and has lots of free time."
i have very low blood pressure these days with all my medications, so i feel just fine.
look forward to your opinions, pro or con. you can't hurt my feelings.

I Love Rugged, Outdoors Men
I like rugged looking men, in fact I really don't go for sleek looking men. Give me one that says, "I'm a man, I know I'm strong, sexy, willing to do the heavy work." Rugged good looks is when you look at them you can tell they are hard workers. They don't fuss or primp like a pretty boy. No manicures for them. They are strong but not from the gym, they have calloused hands not softies, they wear jeans and boots because they are ready to work, they are very confident in their ability to survive and thrive.
I used to go for the straight nose, high cheekbones, thick blond aryan , and sculpted mouth.
To me, men should smell like Old Spice lol... or something along that spicy/woodsy/earthy/musky scent. The smell of coleman fuel and camp fire.....Good lord! Nothing better than a rugged good smelling man!

Men that do not groom their mustache and beard are rugged. They are an natural beauties .
I like cowpokes !!!
Rugged sexy to me is a guy with side burns or a beard, usually tall and somewhat built, wears wranglers or slimmer jeans, wears dark colors like blues, brown, green, black, gray, and camouflage, and he can have short buzzed hair or shaggy longer hair, he must have pit hair and the more he has the more rugged sexy he is .... wears tank tops and sleeveless shirts, his face and eyes can be pretty .... it is more about the entire overall look .....
I like cowpokes !!!
"Alone in The Wilderness" made by Richard Pronnecke
Someday when we lose electricity for an extended period of time, you will be glad you have some hand tools. People were very smart to be able to survive before the electrification of America. Things were done perfectly and with much skill. Have you guys seen the video "Alone in The Wilderness" made by Richard Pronnecke. Check it out.

Rachel Carson Project
Scientist David Suzuki stated that "Silent Spring" written by Rachel Carson was an important influence on the direction his work would take.
Suzuki, in an interview discusses how during WW2, as a young child, he and his family (originally from Japan) were held for 4 yrs in a concentration camp at a mountain site.
During the time he spent on the mountain, he developed a love for nature and today is a proponent of responsibility not destruction of earth's natural resources.

Jared Lee Loughner, Tucson shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords
If Jared Lee Loughner had not been unreasonably fearful, had used common sense and not had a gun, a beautiful young man would still be alive. There are too many Jared Lee Loughner out there too many little people of limited social skills, limited practical intelligence and limited conscience who not only fail to think before they act but refuse to take responsibility for their actions.
Our Constitution does not give us rights without responsibility, so where is the personal responsibility in this?
We have the NRA to thank not only for the deletion of personal responsibility from the equation, but for all the people who will die as the result.
Obviously... since no one can place blame, everyone's going to be fighting about it. People are becoming unstable in general because America deems it okay to treat people like shit. Do you think if anyone gave a damn about this kid this would have happened? I wouldn't be surprised if all clues pointed to "he didn't really have any friends".
People are not nice, "A student" or not.
He took responsibility, and took himself along with them. This is what happens in the world. People freak out whenever it happens in our back yard. Want reason? There isn't always reason. Sometimes it entirely chaos, and nothing more.
This kind of thing should not happen but it does. Let's not look for blame, psychology or excuses from spirituality and religion. That always only gets us nowhere. Temporary coping, but it always happens again.
Isn't it time we all did better than we've been doing?
Start actively giving a damn.

I just want to say having gone to a gun show in missouri a few years ago, I found myself in a room full of the most disgusting people in my experience. It was the closest I had come face to face with the Klan, the Aryan Nations, and most ubiquitous of all, unreconstructed Neo-Confederates. There were so many nitwits in their camo outfits, bandoleers, shaved heads, creepy tattoos and lack of front teeth that it was obvious to me they should have gun shows with dental conventions in the same building at the same time.
The friend who dragged me there was after a Streetsweeper. So off we went through the crowd, many of whom carried assault weapons over their shoulders and handguns in hand with price tags dangling from them, selling to anyone with cash no questions asked. The crowd at the Streetsweeper booth was large, after all, what could be more gunfun than a semi automatic shotgun that fires a dozen 12 gauge shells through a big rolling drum as fast as you can pull the trigger? Big-Big-gun-gun fun-fun!
My pal, a wannabe bounty hunter who looked the part, had no trouble finding full automatic switch kits, and even someone selling silencers. There was also more hate Obama ,Clinton, Schumer, Brady and Liberals bumper stickers than at a GOP convention. More than anything, these shows are meeting places for the most violent contingent of the extreme Right-wing and gang culture in this country.
To be fair, I must say that most of the big busy booths were run by sporting goods manufacturers and their local distributors. They make enough money day to day selling their guns and ammo that they could easily stop pandering to these Right-wing extremists and pull out of gun shows all together.

Let the Mormons have their own group, leave the rest of us out of it.
Canada also has gay tolerant Scouting. Boy Scouts in Canada the UK and The Girl Scouts of America are all cool with gays and lesbians, so how long is it going to take the BSA to grow up and straighten out morally? Discrimination is immoral and reprehensible. And practically, it deprives the BSA and the boys of good volunteers without improving the organization in any way.
Normally, I would have little to say about the policies of the BSA if there was no connection to the government. Since that is not the case, I simply will not sit idly by and watch a homophobic evangelical organization receive so much as a nod and a dime from any official person in government. So no, I will not give it a rest. There's a gay storm coming. You better hurry and find your holy umbrellas.

Coleman lanterns
Those old kerosene lanterns gave heat and light. I would dearly love to get hold of a set of coleman navigation lights from a tugboat, but the old brass ones are not only rare but exceedingly expensive.
Multicultural St. Louis - Modern African-American Achievements in St. Louis
St. Louis has a long history of artistic excellence by African-American performers and composers. When Scott Joplin brought his ragtime music to St. Louis in the late 1800s, he found a ready audience in the river city’s saloons, brothels, restaurants and theaters. He played most often in the Chestnut Valley near Union Station and introduced one of his most popular compositions, "The Cascades," at the 1904 World’s Fair in Forest Park. Visitors can visit the Scott Joplin House State Historic Site for an in-depth look at the man, his music and African-American life in St. Louis at the turn of the 20th century. Ragtime performances and events are held at the site throughout the year.
Josephine Baker began her long entertainment career in St. Louis before shooting to fame in the Revue Negre in Paris. Popular ballads of the Ragtime Era, such as the tales of murder "Frankie and Johnny" and "Stagger Lee," were written about the wild life in St. Louis’ sporting districts. Joplin’s contemporary, W. C. Handy, wrote "St. Louis Blues" while standing on the banks of the Mississippi River here, and blues musicians followed the Great Migration upriver from the Mississippi Delta to help establish a unique St. Louis sound. Modern African-American performers continued the tradition, finding eager audiences in St. Louis and success around the world. Ike and Tina Turner, opera’s Grace Bumbry and Robert McFerrin, jazz great Miles Davis, rock 'n’ roller Chuck Berry (who still plays regularly at Blueberry Hill in The Loop) and many other legends spent the formative days of their careers here. St. Louis became known as the birthplace of rhythm and blues and the "City of Gabriels" because of the amazing horn players that came from its music scene. The tradition of musical innovation from St. Louis artists continues today with hip-hop stars Nelly, Chingy and Murphy Lee topping the charts. The St. Louis Black Repertory Company, which has been performing in St. Louis for more than 30 seasons, has been called the nation’s top black theater.
African Americans also have played an important role in St. Louis’ sports history. George Poage became the first African American to win a medal in the Olympic Games, held in St. Louis in 1904, and tennis great Arthur Ashe graduated from high school in St. Louis. James "Cool Papa" Bell, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, played for St. Louis in the Negro Leagues and was considered the fastest man in the game. The world’s greatest female athlete, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, lives and works in St. Louis today, building a better life for underserved children through the JJK Boys & Girls Club. The St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation Walk of Fame in downtown honors St. Louisans who have been trailblazers in the community, and the National Black Tourism Network offers tours of St. Louis’ African-American heritage. St. Louis gas prices shoot up
(KMOV) -- Have you heard oil prices have dropped? So why, you may ask, have gas prices in the St. Louis area spiked in the past 24 hours?
The frustrating thing is, there really is no specific answer.
Oil prices have dipped below $100 a barrel since the disaster in Japan, but continuing tension in the Middle East, including Egypt and Libya continue to put fear into the market and have kept speculators, well, speculating.
As of Wednesday morning, the price for regular unleaded gas is around $3.49 in Missouri and $3.69 in Illinois.
http://www.kmov.com/news/local/Disasters-in-Japan-cause-lowers-crude-oil-prices-118077989.html
Pay attention to the futures markets and know how your local station market works and you'll be able to gas up on the low end of prices. that doesn't mean you'll avoid high prices, but it will save you some money at the pump.

Capitalism in Crisis - Was Marx Right?
Fascism is a tendency within capitalism. It's basically what happens when bourgeois democracy adopts the structure of capitalism (i.e. a completely undemocratic hierarchy that functions only to create a profit for the enterprise, or more accurately those at the top.)
Topic “coleman lantern collector”
"I won't last forever but a Coleman lantern will.
I have more than 200 of them, with dates reaching back to 1914 when the company came out with the first L316 Arc Lantern. I get a kick out of firing the old ones up. I sit in the glow and wonder about the people who lit them before me.
My dad got a green 220B in the late '50s, and I used it all the time. A buddy and I took it on our first canoe trip to the Boundary Waters, fishing for pike and walleyes. We fired it up at night, hung it on a tree, and it was still burning in the morning. Never saw a soul for a week.
I had it on our first deer hunting trip, too. I drove my old '53 Plymouth into the middle of the woods and asked a guy named Louis Richards if we could hunt his place. He let us sleep in his barn, and we worked out our plans for the morning hunt there under Dad's lantern. I've gone back there almost every year since, and Louis became one of my best friends and hunting partners. We turned his son's old log cabin into a deer camp and lit the whole place up with Coleman lanterns, even the path to the outhouse.
Just last Tuesday his son-in-law called to tell me Louis had died of heart failure. It's an awful tough thing. We had lots of great times in the light of those lanterns. Come to think of it, we probably read a few issues of Field & Stream in that glow.
Anyway, I've got about 100 lanterns on shelves in the basement and another 100 or so in the garage. My daughter teases me, saying I need to figure out what I'm going to do with all of them before I die. What she doesn't know is that I'm already on it. She's not much into lanterns herself, but she has two sons, ages 11 months and 4. The older one wants to go fishing with me every day, and I've already given him one of my L316s. This Friday, his younger brother will get one of the others for his first birthday. So if everything goes to plan, my lanterns-all 200-plus of them-will wind up on shelves in her garage and basement.
And in 50 years, they'll all still work." --Don Colston

The US needs more European style socialism
I love my country. That's why I want to see the United States become an even greater country -- by learning from the Europeans, who do many things much better than we do (health care, high speed ground transportation, quality of life, broadband access, and so on.
The US needs more European style socialism, social democracy, democratic socialism, communitarianism - whatever we call it. I think of it as an expression of fairness, mutual responsibility and concern for the common good. There is no perfect political system, but the highly individualistic, capitalistic society we have in the US is less and less able to sustain people fairly and decently. (And many European countries are more congenial for bicyclists than most parts of the US) Most socialist (and all Marxist) dont beleive in equality of outcome, just equality of oppurtunity.
This means that everyone gets the same chance at sucsess. This does not happen in capatilism because it is far easier for an owner of a company to make money than a worker, and for a rich kid to go to colledge than a pook kid.

America needs Socialism!
If people who needed health care were guaranteed they'd get it.
If losing your job didn't entail the risk of being tossed out onto the streets.
If getting a good college education was available to all, poor and rich alike.
If public transportation made it possible to get around without private cars.
I'm ready for some European style socialism. So are a majority of Americans, given the results of the past few elections. We're tried of unfettered individualism and irresponsible capitalism.
Bring it on, President Obama. America needs Socialism! Americans have turned into a bunch of lazy and ignorant people that would rather sit and watch "American Idol" than take interest in government. Americans simply make poor decisions and are not capable of caring for their selves. Government needs to make our decisions and care for us. Obama please get us out of this mess that our poor decisions got us into.
How to Help Children Learn socialist value
The Young Socialists' Magazine," published from 1908-1920 was the first radical working-class children's magazine in the United States. In its pages appeared the writings of prominent political figures such as Rosa Luxemburg and Eugene Debs and those of such noted authors as Leo Tolstoy and Maxim Gorky. The lively content of the magazine also included poetry, songs, folktales, essays, and cartoons as well as a revisionist history of the United States from the Revolutionary War through Reconstruction. These features of the 15-18 page newspaper-size magazine were used to construct a working-class cultural identification in children that was tied to radical socialist activity. The cultural articles created role models and an alternative value structure while the political articles forged an allegiance to socialist politics. The unique feature of using sophisticated reading materials for children to develop a cultural identification tied to radical politics provides one model for developing oppositional cultural forms. This model may prove useful to educators today who are redesigning curricular materials to include race, ethnicity, gender, and class perspectives that have been marginalized from mainstream texts.

House Votes To Cut NPR's Federal Funds
NPR has always been committed to giving a voice to communities underrepresented in the mainstream: ethnic minorites, non-Christians, LGBT, the poor, etc.... so by it's very nature is MUST be liberal. Conservatives aren't interested in giving those constituencies a voice. In fact they have a vested interest in keeping them silent and marginalized. There's no way for NPR to achieve this mythical "balance" because in order to do so it would have to abandon its mission and become just another mouthpiece for white, straight, Christian men. And really, don't they have more than enough?
NPR is THE best radio station out there for a variety of laughs, science, music, human interest and smart or wise discussions. When I say wise, I mean when intellectuals and good politicians are interviewed. Often I am disappointed when some guests are obviously "sucking up" to the GOP crazyness.
This time in history feel like a bad dream for the US, Japan and most of the world. There is no unity, no sane direction for the country, the newspapers or the radio stations. Wild and worrysome things such as some Fox stations *but not all* some are good stations such as those in the Wash DC area are very good.
How and when will the country get back on track and pull together? After some major crisis again? We we had two or three and that has done nothing to right the wrong or pull us together.
We need solutions, not fighting and turmoil.
"The bill's treatment of NPR is arguably unconstitutional and definitely violates the Rule of Law. The bill is arguably unconstitutional because it likely is a bill of attainder. Art. I, Sec. 9, of the Constitution prohibits Congress from passing bills of attainder. The idea behind the bill of attainder ban is that Congress shouldn't enact laws meant to punish particular persons or entities, because the proper way to punish a wrongdoer is after the accused has been given a chance to defend himself at trial in a court. After the federal government similarly singled out ACORN, a federal court ruled the defunding was an unconstitutional bill of attainder. A federal appellate court reversed, but on grounds specific to the facts of the case.
"Whether or not H R 1076 is a bill of attainder, passing such a bill violates the Rule of Law."

20-50 million curies of cesium 137 in fuel pools -- :)™
versus 6 million curies of cesium 137 released from Chernobyl (about 40% of its core). To put that in perspective, a single spent fuel pool holds more cesium 137 than was deposited by all atmospheric nuclear weapons tests in the Northern Hemisphere combined. That's why U.S. authorities have been leaning on the Japanese to hit the problem with everything they've got, even if it means suicide missions. The only good thing is that wind has been blowing everything out to sea, and the Pacific Ocean is probably the best place on the planet for the stuff to go, but I wouldn't want your brother to bet his life on the wind not shifting while he's there.
Coleman Lantern Repair in Randolph Maine
Anyone ever heard of these guys? I just saw them pop up on craigslist in the last couple of weeks. I have no affiliation with them.

I only hope this guy is certified by Coleman. The liability of a business if a repair goes bad could devastate someone!

I Still Love Obama. Love. Love. Love.
Am I the last person in America who still adores President Obama?
But my own feelings haven't changed at all. Two years after voting for him, I'm just as exhilarated as Oprah Winfrey was in Grant Park on Nov. 4, 2008. You might say, to borrow the accusation frequently leveled at the 2008 media, that I've remained in the tank for Obama. The only problem is that, currently, I seem to be in the tank by myself. Earlier this fall, when even NPR hosts were making jokes that could have been borrowed from Rush Limbaugh—the teaser for a recent episode of Wait Wait … Don't Tell Me! imagined that one of the "inspiring" quotations in the new Oval Office carpet was, "At least your daughters still like you ... probably"—I felt the unmistakable loneliness of being the last one left at a formerly hopping party.
Honestly, though, I'm surprised that so many people have turned against the president. Obviously, if you've lost your job, life is tough, but did voters really believe the country was going to quickly and dramatically reverse course once he was elected? So he hasn't yet made good on every campaign promise—isn't this like being shocked that you didn't lose as much weight doing Jenny Craig as Valerie Bertinelli did, or that your new memory-foam mattress didn't magically cure your insomnia?
Joseph Stalin was a great man
Joseph Stalin was a great man; few other men of the 20th century approach his stature. He was simple, calm and courageous. Stalin turned Russia from a third world peasant society to a superpower!
Stalin earned his place among the great classics of Marxism-Leninism with his stern and principled struggle for the defence, consistent implementation and further development of the ideas of Marx, Engels and Lenin. With his keen mind and special ability, he was able to find his bearings even in the most difficult times, when the bourgeoisie and reaction were doing everything in their power to hinder the triumph of the Great October Socialist Revolution.
Pacific Northwest Gay Camping
Communism with camping
People get tired of ‘getting along’ and doing favors. More importantly people get tired of not having a bathroom. When push comes to shove, I (and I think most people) choose to reap what they sow in the great mean capitalist market.
The article claims: “People might otherwise live in vastly unequal societies where they are rewarded very differently for their abilities, choices and backgrounds – but deep down everyone recognizes the "moral shabbiness" of such regimes.
I disagree. It seems to be the exact opposite. We do live in unequal societies and we try to overcome it both socially and economically. People act benevolently until its social benefit is below the cost. Sure, I try to respect everyone equally, but when someone is rude or dishonest, my demeanor changes. Economically this is true too. Often workers are given starting salaries or wages and then given raises, bonuses, or commission. Really, deep down everyone recognizes they want to be rewarded relative to others. They recognize they don’t want to be the one who is catching all the fish or setting up the tent.
The article quotes Cohen asking, “if people choose to live like this for a few weeks each year, what's to stop them doing so all the time? Simple: Their resources grow scarcer and their needs increase. Camping involves bringing things from the outside world, both materials and social structures. If this social miracle of camping cooperation were to be made permanent, as communism would be, the dynamics would be different and we would all be getting a whole lot wetter.
Coleman Lantern History
W.C. Coleman could see the light for the darkness. The young salesman was taking a stroll after a hard day’s work selling typewriters, and spotted a new type of lamplight in a drugstore window in Brockton, Alabama. This new light burned with a strong, steady white flame and was fueled by gasoline. The standard lamp of the era burned kerosene and produced a smoky, flickering, yellowish light. W.C. was stricken with very poor eyesight, and was very interested in this new, steady white light that enabled him to read even the smallest print in books and on medicine bottles. Coleman saw potential in the new light, and through his vision a new company was born that would put America’s farms and ranches in a new light, and would eventually make his name synonymous with outdoor fun.

Just an observation my brothers.. I just got to thinking, I am not seeing all that many brothers collecting coleman lanterns or out camping. I realize with the recession brothers may not be able to afford it and this hobby may be reserved for the rich white older folks. Or it may be that the brothers opts for a simpler decor without all the clutter . I decided to snoop around the honk coleman lantern site and see what up. First thing I noticed was the lack of brothers on the site and second thing I noticed it seems to be an all white good ole boys club. The few south american brothers that are members get no press from the white members . What the fuck up with that shit? Where do the hispanic brothers hang out and talk that is acceptable to the white members? Or is it just bunch of white racists who assume that any person with a hispanic sounding last name don't have anything to say about coleman lanterns? Like I said, this my observation my brothers.http://www.colemancollectorsforum.com/

Progressive agenda for 21st-century America
Comrade Citizen
My Fellow Democrats. Yes, the election is over, but the work has just begun. We progressives should prepare once again to play our role as agents of bold ideas and political social transformation in the Midterm elections in which members of Congress, state legislatures, and some state governors are elected. We at the Obama Forum will have to reflect a belief in the need for change. We must support our party through charity, through volunteerism, local and state governments, though surely all have a role. We should argue that we need programs that serve our national and international needs and encourage faith in our public institutions, creating a positive cycle of political change and space for further reform, advocate for true reform of our tax system so that everyone pays their fair share.
We at the Obama Forum should reach out to recruit new members who share our goals and want to join our fight. Our movement lies in being an unapologetic champion for progressive ideas. Finding new confidence and imagination, we have begun to renew our political capital. Praise Obama Brothers! For struggle, Solidarity and Socialism! I swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Obama. Our laws and his will, according to him. We will not overthrow the government with violence. We shall stand, remain and be the law of his realm forever. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead for Obama to deliver them from evil.

An Open Letter To the Members of the CCF
When I was asked to be the first moderator of this Forum, with it came some responsibility to the owner. The owner requested that the Forum be kept free of "flaming" posts and that it be kept free of political postings. At that time, this Forum had fewer than 100 members.
Over time, there were political posts, especially just before national elections, that did get a little heated. I was guilty of some of these posts. Some of my posts were deleted by a fellow moderator, as were posts by other members.
The then owner of the Forum posted a reminder to the members that the Forum was not a place for political discussion and even mentioned where there were sites for this on the internet. I have tried to adhere to these requirements as Forum Administrator.
The Moderators and I have received numerous thanks over the years for keeping the Forum free of political posts and for keeping the theme of the Forum on track. This is not always easy. There are, or have been, members who do not wish to follow our requested posting guidelines. As some of these former members are very knowledgeable on the subjects of gas pressured appliances, they will be missed.
I have communicated with people who are members on other Forums and they have told me horror stories of how forum administrators have let the political door get pushed open and the fighting and bickering that ensues. At one time, one such forum had many more members than we do. After the political bloodbath started, I am told that forum now has 40 active members. I do not want this to happen here.
The hard part of being an Administrator or Moderator is knowing where a line must be drawn. Yes, political humor is sometimes the best kind. Unfortunately, we all have passions regarding the subject but not always the same point of view.
With Cigar Mike buying Oldcolemanparts.com from Bob Hitchcock, this will be the third owner I have had the pleasure of working for as Administrator of this Forum. Mike has asked the current moderators, Warren, Nevada Ed and myself to stay on as we have for Bob Hitchcock and Frank Bebb. As this Forum has grown rapidly over the last couple of years, Mike must feel we are doing a reasonably good job.
It is our sincere desire to have a community here, a place where we can be friends without the need to use the Forum as a soapbox. And, to be the best Coleman Forum possible!
Thank you for your time.

The grinding poverty in Appalachia, where high profit mining is mountaintop removal, has persisted for nearly 150 years. It is fueled by regressive political systems, poor education, and a repressive worldview, as well as an historic lower class position because this part of the USA lost in the horrific American Civil War and this remains as a cultural legacy not yet transcended. The economic problem that persists is creating jobs for a poorly educated hick white population while halting this tragic destruction of the natural environment, which explains local resistance by those who are employed or who benefit from this kind of environmental barbarism.
