Boy Scouts of America Anti-Gay

It's about Mormons, and Southern Baptists.

Both have a strangle-h­old on what was once a great organizati­on. Not perfect, none is, but the original mission of scouting is a very good one. It gets boys outside with friends, their parents and other adults. It teaches great life skills and self-confi­dence. When well-led it is very fun for kids.
The original mission of scouting was specifical­ly NOT religious. It was intended to be for all kids, regardless of background­. That junk has been added in in recent years. I would love to see every LDS person and SB Texan right-wing­er OFF the national board of BSA. That would solve this. Otherwise they are going to destroy a great organizati­on, and it's sad.

It is Congress that charters BSA, and Congress should require that BSA comply with anti-discr­imination laws, or lose that charter. It's pretty simple.
Let the Mormons have their own group, leave the rest of us out of it.

Canada also has gay tolerant Scouting. Boy Scouts in Canada the UK and The Girl Scouts of America are all cool with gays and lesbians, so how long is it going to take the BSA to grow up and straighten out morally? Discrimina­tion is immoral and reprehensi­ble. And practicall­y, it deprives the BSA and the boys of good volunteers without improving the organizati­on in any way.

 

Normally, I would have little to say about the policies of the BSA if there was no connection to the government­. Since that is not the case, I simply will not sit idly by and watch a homophobic evangelica­l organizati­on receive so much as a nod and a dime from any official person in government­. So no, I will not give it a rest. There's a gay storm coming. You better hurry and find your holy umbrellas.
